The idea for "Ducks" came from when I found a bunch of rubber ducks in a box, from when my family moved. I wanted to write a short about surrounding the rubber ducks; it was then when I also wanted to make this about Asperger's and truly explore a story where the main character isn't the one that needs to change, but the people around him.

Following Ducks, I wrote "Trattoria". The idea for the story came when I was working at an Italian restaurant in downtown Chicago. The restaurant was underground and had a very creepy and elegant presence to it. You could feel the history of it, and how long it as been apart of Chicago, even before it was a restaurant.

This sparked the idea to make a story about a restaurant that traps you. I later made that idea into an adaption of the Greek Lotus Eaters, and took this opportunity to make this place look very fine dining and "normal" at the surface. But once you look closer around, you see all the things that show its history and darkness.
